The LIFE+ Program
The Life+ Program, the European Program for the financial support to the development of products and technologies aimed to the environmental protection, has been established with the Regulation (CE) n. 614/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23/05/2007.
The LIFE+ objective is to contribute to the development, the execution and the updating of the policy and legislation in the environmental area.
LIFE+ co-finances actions, with EU added value, for the environment in the EU and in some third countries. The financed projects can be proposed by private or public operators, organizations or institutes.
LIFE+ have 3 main thematic components:
- Nature and Biodiversity. The Life+ Nature project contribute to the execution and development of the “Birds”, “Habitat” and “Nature 2000” directives. The Biodiversity project focus on innovative practices aimed to stop the losses of biodiversities in Europe.
- Environmental Policy and Governance. It sustains innovative or demonstrative projects that present innovative solutions related to relevant environmental issues.
- Information and communication. It sustain projects finalized to communication actions and sensitization campaigns in the environmental field, as well as training initiatives and campaigns for the prevention of forest fires.
